“We’re Jus 2 DPRSD B*tches”

What. Is. Poppin'?! I'm literally bursting with excitement about the latest shit happening with DPRSD (so dramatic, I'm aware). I'm insanely hype to announce that DPRSD is welcoming Kennedy Wallace to the team to continue addressing different perspectives of mental health!

A couple of weeks ago, Kennedy slid into my DMs and expressed an interest in helping me out with the next series of merch. As we got to talking, it was immediately noticeable how deeply passionate she is about all things mental health.

Have you ever talked to someone about something they're passionate about and noticed a fire in their eyes and unmatched excitement in their vocal cadence? That's precisely what I recognized when I spoke with Kennedy about collaborating with DPRSD.

Like myself (and literally almost everyone), Kennedy has faced numerous struggles with her mental health. And one detail I appreciate most about Kennedy is how open she is about the avenues in life that she's struggled with.

Although it can be a little uncomfortable (and terrifying), Kennedy knows it's okay to not always be okay, and she strives to spread this message to other people as well. This drive to help other people is what DPRSD is all about, and I can't even tell you how excited I am to be working with her.

DPRSD is Growingggg (eek)

In regards to what Kennedy will bring to the DPRSD brand, that's an entirely separate announcement I'm pumped about! To further expand our platform, DPRSD is now gonna be on TikTok! And Kennedy's gonna be the soul in charge of creating some DOPE ass content on that platform. She's already been on the grind creating videos, and I'm so fricken pumped to start sharing these will all you beautiful souls!

The DPRSD TikTok will act as an extension of The TearDrop, our weekly article series offering real-life advice from some of the most incredible people I've connected with in this lifetime. So if you're not into reading, the DPRSD TikTok is a great way to learn about mental health, get advice, and hear more about the brand in a video format. Trust me; it's gonna be so incredible.

Some Life Thoughts Real Quick..

One last thing before I wrap this up; I jus wanna speak on the misleading lens social media allows for. Kennedy committed to the same basketball program I played for. But, due to our age difference, we were never actually on the team at the same time. Therefore, I only ever knew Kennedy through social media. My judgmental ass assumed Kennedy was the type of girl who grew up with no problems, no hardships, and that everything always went her way in life.

Basically, I (very wrongly) assumed Kennedy was the embodiment of a stereotypical picture-perfect suburban white girl. And after hearing about who she REALLY is, it reminded me why I even started DPRSD in the first place.

Everyone is dealing with something, despite what the exterior (social media presence) may present. When we sit down and treat each other like f*cking human beings (a concept that seems to get lost too often today), the genuine connections we can make are incredibly life-giving. So take a beat before making snap judgments. You never know what's going on inside another person's head.

Check out the TikTok. Welcome Kennedy motherf*cking Wallace to the DPRSD team. Spread some genuine love. And never forget how important it is to put your mental health FIRST.

Make a Donation

The TearDrop is an integral part of the DPRSD brand; these individuals help create our genuine community of love and empathy. For each story, Jerksy has an open conversation with the featured guest, elects a creative direction, then writes and edits everything before your beautiful eyes see it. The process is fueled by an indescribable passion to construct something powerful enough to accurately describe the complexity of our mental health. So if you want to support DPRSD and ensure there are plenty of TearDrops to come, we graciously accept monetary contributions (and yes, $1 is donated).
